MINOR DIVERGENCE. PIOUS

Trait Advantage: Purity above All
The Chapter believes its geneseed to be pure and untainted, and regard any genetic deviation as dangerous heresy. They have little liking for other Chapters which have become tainted, such as the Space Wolves and Blood Angels. Every Red Scorpions’ battle brother is constantly screened for mutation and corruption. The Chapter’s Apothecaries enforce this screening to the point of fanaticism, and regularly deploy its members to monitor the troops in battle and be immediately on hand to recover the Chapter’s valuable progenoid glands. Any Red Scorpions’ Tactical or Veteran squad may upgrade its Sergeant to an Apothecary for +25 pts.

Minor Drawback: Have Pride in your Colours
The Red Scorpions shun the use of camouflage, and its attendant tactics such as covert operations, stealth and infiltration. These are the tactics of cowardice, and have no place amongst the honoured ranks of the Red Scorpions. No Red Scorpions may use the Infiltrators or Scouts special rules. Red Scorpions Scout squads must deploy just like any other units.

In addition, Scout squads become 0-1 choice for a Red Scorpions’ army. Scout Bike squadrons also become a 0-1 choice.

Number/squad: 1 Sergeant and 4 to 9 Battle Brothers

Weapons: Boltgun. The Sergeant may replace his boltgun with a bolt pistol and close combat weapons for free.

Options: The squad may be equipped with frag grenades at +1 pt per model and/or krak grenades at +2 pts per model. One Space Marine may be armed with a weapon from the following list: heavy bolter at +5 pts; missile launcher or multi-melta at +10 pts; lascannon at +15 pts; plasma cannon at +20 pts. One Space Marine can be armed with a weapon from the following list: flamer at +6 pts; meltagan or plasma gun at +10 pts.

Character: The Sergeant may be upgraded to a Veteran Sergeant and given Terminator Honours at +15 pts. If so, he may select equipment from the Space Marine Armoury. Alternatively, the Sergeant may be upgraded to an Apothecary for +25 pts. The Apothecary may be given Terminator Honours for +10 pts. If the Apothecary has Terminator Honous then he may also select equipment from the Space Marine Armoury.

Transport: A Tactical squad which numbers six models or less may select a Razorback transport. Tactical squads that number ten models or less may select a Rhino transport.

COMMANDER CARAB CULLN

Inducted into the Red Scorpions from the isolated primitive world of Zaebus Minoris, Culln’s record of service to his Chapter is exemplary. From a raw recruit he has risen through countless campaigns to command the first company. He hasserved in every rank, as a Scout, Tactical Marine, Assault Marine, Sergeant, Veteran and Terminator. He was honoured with a promotion to 1st company after his heroic efforts leading his assault squad during the Chapter’s attack on the breach of the Citadel of Vraks. Culln’s bravery during the operation saw him place a teleport beacon at the breach, allowing assault Terminator squads to land on target and seize the objective. During the battle he also saved the life of Commander Ainea whilst leading the defence of the breach against counter-attacking Chaos forces.

Since that day Culln has served in first company, first in a Vanguard assault squad, eventually rising to lead them, and then as a Terminator, eventually becoming the Sergeant of the company’s elite first squad. He was appointed as Commander of first company following the death of Commander Usaml on the Space Hulk Vulgator. It was Veteran Sergeant Culln who assumed command of the mission and organised the company’s successful extraction. Since then he has led the company with honour and distinction, including commanding the Red Scorpion’s mission alongside Inquisitor Lok to the fourth moon of Beta-Anphelion to investigate a growing Tyranid threat. His actions during the ill-fated mission have earned him and his Chapter the ire of some factions within the Ordo Xenos.

Taciturn, proud, courageous and above all fiercely loyal to the Chapter and its beliefs, Culln has grown into the very image of a Space Marine hero. He has won every honour the Chapter can bestow on him, and when it comes time forthe Commanders and Masters of Red Scorpions to select a new Lord High Commander then there can only be one outcome – Culln is unanimously regarded as the heir in waiting.

SPECIAL RULES

And They Shall Know No Fear, Combat Tactics, Independent Character

‘Proud to live. Proud to die. Hard to kill’: Commander Culln has the Eternal Warrior special rule (see page 74 of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook), so if hit by a weapon that would cause Instant Death he suffers a single wound instead.

Terminator Armour: Culln’s ornate Terminator armour includes a teleport homer and his Iron Halo, increasing his armour’s invulnerable save from 5+ to 4+.

Blade of Vord: Culln’s main weapon is an artefact of 1st company – the sword carried by Commander Vord, the leader of 1st company during the long Ordon Crusade. It is a relic blade, attacking as a power weapon with Str 6.

Master-crafted Stormbolter: Another relic of the Chapter, superbly manufactured and fastidiously maintained, Culln’s stormbolter may re-roll one failed roll to hit per turn.
