Across the face of the Old World battles raged the likes of which had never been seen before. The flowing ranks of the High Elves smashed upon the rock-hard armies of the Dwarfs. So fierce and bloody were the battles that the human tribes that would one day make up the mighty Empire cowered in their huts. Even the Orcs who would later terrorize the Old World stayed fast in their forests and mountain holes. From the Dwarf Khazaks along the World's Edge Mountains warriors, heroes and Generals marched forward in the hopes of coming to grips with the High Elves who had broken their oaths of peace and friendship. Plundered wares and gold would be paid for in blood. While from the south and west came the sons of Ulthuan in their shining Ilthimar armor. The High Elves would wring apologies for their murdered kin out of the Dwarfs or take their beards as compensation for this folly. Overview: Both armies are fully prepared for battle and their goal is simple - wipe out their enemy and take the field! Armies: Both armies are chosen using the Warhammer Army lists found in White Dwarf #264, #265, and #266 with an agreed points value. Battlefield: Lay out the terrain in any mutually agreeable manner. 1. Both players roll a dice, the player who scores highest can choose the side of the table to deploy his forces on. 2. The players roll a dice, the highest scorer may choose whether to start deploying first or second. 3. Taking it in turns, each player deploys one unit at a time, at least 24" from the opposing deployment zone. 4. All war machines in a player's army are deployed at the same time, though they can be deployed in different parts of the battlefield. 5. Champions are deployed with their unit, all other characters in the army are deployed after all other units, all at the same time. 6. Scouting units are not deployed with the rest of the units. Instead they are placed on the table after all units in both armies have been deployed, as described in the rules for Scouts. Who goes first? Both players roll a dice, the player who finished their deployment first (not including Scouts) may add +1 to their dice roll. The player who scores highest may choose whether to go first or second (re-roll ties). Length of game: The game lasts six turns or until one player concedes defeat. Special rules: There are no special rules in this scenario. Victory conditions: Unless one player concedes, use the Victory Points chart to determine who the winner of the battle is. The battle took place between Dwarfs and High Elves, all across the face of the Old World. Using the map of the Warhammer World found in the rulebook you could choose an area and recreate it on the tabletop. In addition, it is conceivable that the High Elf army could be replaced with a Dark Elf force (as there were present in the Old World posing as High Elves). As Malekith tried his best to sow hatred and fuel the fires of vengeance he would no doubt send his own troops into battle if he thought it would further his own plans and take the bloodshed to new heights. |
